Groundhogs Day at The Skidmore Shop

Groundhogs Day is on Monday, February 2nd and depending on what happens, it could equal some sweet savings on merchandise at The Skidmore Shop.

A longer winter gets you 25% off of Skidmore imprinted winter clothing, blankets and stainless steel coffee mugs.

A short winter gets you 25% off of Skidmore imprinted summer clothing, baseball caps, flip flops and beach blankets.

I guess we'll see what happens come Monday.

Good lord groundhog. You've really let yourself go.

SNOW DAY!!!!!!!

Sorry folks, but do to the massive amounts of snow coming down on us today the College has decided close at 2PM. We apologize in advance to any inconvenience this may cause you. As of right now we expect to re-open The Skidmore Shop early tomorrow morning at 9:15 in the AM. Of course if it continues to snow, then there's a chance we'll have another snow day. It's in Mother Natures hands now. All we can do is hope. We promise to keep you updated on our status.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I plan on spending the rest of my afternoon hanging out with this squirrel.

Going to the movies?

Next time you and your friends head to the movies you should make a quick pit stop to The Skidmore Shop to pick up your tickets. We have tickets here for $7 which is a couple of bucks and some change cheaper than what the theater sells them for. You can use them anytime for any movie at any Regal movie theater. Okay...maybe not ANY movie. You can't use the tickets on opening night for a big* movie premiers such as the time when Vanilla Ice made his big movie premier back in 1991. Yeah, the lines were huge...I mean..at least that's what my cousin told me. I'd never wait hours in a line to see a movie with him in it. Never. But if you did choose to go on opening night, you can upgrade the tickets at the theater for couple of bucks. So there's still some savings. Just stop in and see the good people at the registers for tickets.

* A big movie premier would be something like the opening night of TWILIGHT (personal opinion...vampires in love? Barf). You can use your ticket on some movie premiers. Just check with the theater for restrictions.

Chowda'!

They'll pretty much turn anything into chowder these days. If you've got nothing planned on Saturday you should head downtown to check out chowderfest. Sample all the different chowder concoctions you want and then vote for your favorite. Winning chowder will go down in history as the greatest chowder in Saratoga Springs, NY for 2009. You'll be a part of history. So if you didn't make it down to Washington, D.C. to witness the inauguration of President Obama in person..well this is the next best thing. You'll be witnessing chowder history.

I know, I know..this has nothing to do with the bookstore. But does it always have to be about us?!

Living La Vita Local!

Freshman, sophomore, junior, senior..or transfer. Doesn't matter. You are gonna be spending some time in this little upstate New York community know as Saratoga Springs. Or as my friend calls it...horsey town. So while you are here we want to encourage all of you to support our local economy...by.....yeah,you guessed it...spending your money locally. To help you spend your money locally we have a great coupon book to help you save money.

The Saratoga Local Living Guide was created by Skidmore grad Jon Green and it's chock full of great coupons from local businesses such as Max Londons, Uncommon Grounds, Saratoga Apple and Last Vestige. You can pick up a copy of the Local Living Guide at The Skidmore Shop for a mere $10. One book has more than $2,000 worth of savings. That equates to a lot of pizza slices or one awesome flat screen tv.

For more information on the Saratoga Living Guide, click here. Or stop into the Skidmore Shop and pick one up.

Stressed out?

Yep...we've all been there. A long week of work, studying, exams and a busy social schedule can leave you feeling a bit stressed out and wound up like a little ball of knots. Let's be honest...that sucks. So to help you enter your weekends all nice and limber, The Skidmore Shop has made arrangements to have the good folks from Balance In Nature Massage Therapy here every Friday (beginning January 23) from 11 to 4. It's a great deal at a $1 per minute. And in case you are wondering, yes, they are certified New York State licensed and insured massage therapists. You can find them at the same time as our Friday Farmers Market. Which means you can now get your fill of apples and cider doughnuts AND get a sweet back rub all at the same time. That's living folks. Yep...gooood living.

Before billions of dollars

After billions of dollars

Be the new Apple campus rep at Skidmore College. We're looking. A solid knowledge of Apple computers a plus as well as iLife, iTunes and movie creation...how to burn a cd, etc. All the important stuff.

You must be able to work a full year for Apple. It's great for resume building and someday when you are rich and successful like Steve Jobs, you too could buy an unlimited supply of black turtleneck shirts.
